About Xirium

Xirium^(TM) promotes the use of simple modules based on proven concepts. Modules implement groups of related ideas. This makes them simple to understand, easy to combine and reliable in use. Modules may be software applications or components, hardware, protocols or a hybrid. Modules encapsulate the properties of a system into logical units without resorting to kludges.

Simple, well understood components are combined to provide positive emergent behaviour. Components can be improved or replaced independently - scalability and future-proofing. In conventional design, modules are homogeneous. This creates design conflicts and scalability problems. Where modules are heterogeneous, conflicting design constraints are eliminated and modules work seemlessly.

We specialise in the following:

• Codecs - Custom encoders and decoders are available for efficient, stream-based transfer. The use of open architecture container formats allows specialist codecs to interoperate while maintaining backward compatibility and forward compatability.

• Daemons - Bespoke server software, any protocol, small footprint.

• Java - Java Beans and network applications.

• Image Processing - We are able to produce stereograms at 2000000 pixels per second in software and 66000000 pixels per second in hardware. We also specialise in 2D shaders.

• Assembly - 8 bit, 68000 to 68060 assembly, or PowerPC.

• VLSI - We provide design optimisation and novel implementations. Minimal implementations reduce gate counts and add scalability while avoiding a proliferation of subsystems. This reduces power consumption, increases flexibility and improves reliability. Our philosophy of open architectures also allows designs to be easily expanded.

• Web Software - Although not our speciality, we can design and host sites with dynamic content.

• Web Searching - By using lateral thinking and extensive knowledge of resources, we are able to find new trends and obscure data.

• Security - All of our members have basic security training and major security alerts are followed. Security is planned, not retrospectively added. We consult, and test security.

• Cross-Discipline Solutions - We find that skilled people trained in more than one discipline are more balanced and less likely to promote one methodology or profession. This means less costly mistakes, new options and better, faster solutions.

A good solution does not have to be a high-tech solution. Old ideas are the remembered ideas.
