We have produced a number of software components which are re-used. We design a number of generic modules and then combine them in varied and interesting ways:
We offer MUD Shell themes and customisation. MUD Shell is easy to use command line designed to teach beginners. Many people contribute to the MUD Shell project and many are available to implement specific requirements. We also find productive uses for otherwise dormant resources. For example, our functional desktop research.
Easy to use ECommerce software, similar to PERLShop. Supported by various third parties.
We have a dedicated web site with examples of our low bandwidth, open standard, text based video.
SpaceSearch allows users to search specific sites in multiple languages, using publicly available search engines. This requires minimal resources. Although some search engines have added language features, SpaceSearch is still the only one to search European languages such as Welsh. HTML authors can easily configure SpaceSearch to search sites listed on a pull down menu.
The original idea is (C)1997 Lloyd Wood. The original implementation is (C)1997-8 Dean Swift and Xirium. The CGI and JavaScript versions are currently maintained by Lloyd Wood. Lloyd Wood also maintains a mailing list for this application.
The PINT To HTML converter allows existing content in any format to be arranged and given a consistant look. Content can be taken as ASCII text, WordStar, or other formats cut and pasted, and converted into HTML. This HTML is without headers or footers, it is just the content. An index is constructed describing the document heirarchy and meta information. This allows every document to reference its parent documents, greatly easing navigation.
Also, a table of cross links can be constructed, easing the maintanance of internal and external hyperlinks. The tree of content is then given a style template. The style template and tree structure can be changed at any time, allowing global changes to the document tree.
To ensure the high quality of our HTML, the "spider" searches the "web" for pages with broken links. The format of the output has been highly acclaimed allowing temporary links in a changing web to be quickly identified. The spider uses a POD to ensure indexing does not slow for large sites. (Maybe we ought to use it on our web site more often.)
Using GGrep and a third party log analyser, we produced a script to show real time web server statistics. The user is able to interactively explore live data from multiple sources using a standard web browser. The script controls for site and data-type. Data below a statistically accurate threshold is removed. This removes skew introduced by site maintenance and prevents the user from overestimating site popularity.
Output from our spider can automatically be submitted to AltaVista and InfoSeek. This program has been discontinued due to severe competition. We are concentrating development on core software.
More details about listed software to be approved. This list does not include upcoming user interface software.
